ponda: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik has called for a vigilance inquiry into the delay of the pending work on the Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) in Ponda.
Pointing out that the works has been going on for years and has not been completed, the Congress MLA also questioned about the wastage of expenditure given that the project is constantly getting extensions with no end date in sight. He further called on the Chief Minister and PWD Minister to announce when the STPs will be completed. He recalled how he had asked the government in 2018 for answers and then the former PWD minister had stated that 80% is completed and that the project will be completed in May 2019.
Naik also raised questions on how the government began work on laying the pipeline for the Curti STP began without acquiring land for the project and cited opposition from locals over the same issue.
He added that people have been suffering for the last four years as the quality of roads have been damaged due to the STP work.
