Frustrated with the incomplete renovation of the shelter at Ponda’s KTC Bus Stand, residents of the town have raised concerns over the dilapidated and dangerous conditions of the bus stand. The renovation works of the shelter were halted mid-way in November 2022. The bus stand lacks lighting facilities making it unsafe for travellers especially women who arrive after sundown.
The problems plaguing the bus stand do not end with the incomplete structure or the non-functional lights, as there are buses abandoned at the bus stand and garbage is being dumped making it impossible for people to breathe in the fresh air. Locals have requested the local authorities to renovate the bus stand as early as possible.
