Ponda roads have become death traps for motorists due to potholes

PONDA: The roads in Ponda city that were dug up for laying sewerage and gas lines have developed numerous potholes and consequently become dangerous for motorists.
And with heavy rains lashing the State, the potholed roads have become more dangerous due to flooding. This has led to a number of accidents in the city.
Though the locals have been complaining about the dangers they face while commuting through the potholed roads, long before the arrival of the monsoons, the roads could not be repaired since the sewerage lines laying work is still progressing.
Taking note of the difficulties faced by the locals, Ponda Block Congress Committee President Arun Gudekar along with former Ponda municipal chairperson Kishore Naik submitted a memorandum to PWD Executive Engineer Vijay Mardolkar with a request to repair the roads in the city urgently.
However, Mardolkar informed them that without the completion of sewerage line works, the roads cannot be hot-mixed.
