Ponda school PTAs want cellphone tower shifted

PONDA: The Parent Teacher Association of Mahalaxmi High School and Primary School have submitted a memorandum for shifting of the mobile tower and demanded that it be erected at least 300 meters away from Government Primary School (GPS) campus at Talauli.

Copies of the memorandum have been sent to Chief Minister and Education Minister Pramod  Sawant, local MLA and Power Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Director of Health Panjim, Director of Education,  Sarpanch Wadi  Talauli, Deputy Collector North Ponda and ADEI Ponda.

In letter to the Chief Minister the PTA of Mahalaxmi HS mentioned that on December, 14, 2022, that there was an uproar here as the villagers objected to the erection of a cellphone tower in the school premises. 

The villagers stated that the concerned contractor started the work by using police force and in the presence of the Ponda Magistrate.

The PTAs of the schools then at a meeting held on Sunday, December 25, protested against the erection of the tower in the campus of the Government Primary School, which was within 100m from the Mahalaxmi HS. The parents demanded that the tower be immediately shifted at least 300 m away from the schools.
