PONDA: After reviewing the development work of Ponda Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Thursday informed that the Ponda STP will be operational in May.
“The hot-mixing of Ponda roads would start soon after the completion of STP work. The pending work on the Khandepar bridge approach road work will also be completed in six months time,” the PWD Minister said.
Pauskar and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik held a meeting with the officials of various departments including Sewerage, PWD, WRD, Water Supply etc and discussed on the status of various pending development works in the town.
Later, addressing the media persons, Pauskar said, “The Ponda sewage treatment plant progressing at Kapileswaram will be completed soon and will be made operational by May.”
He said, “The work was delayed due to several rocks formation found below the road on the path of sewerage lines and chambers. As Curti locals opposed the STP at Curti, the same will be treated at Kapileshwaram Treatment Plant. Similarly, the work pending on hot-mixing of Ponda roads will began now as most of the sewerage lines work is completed and wherever possible, the roads in the town will be hot-mixed.”
He also said that the approach road work of Khandepar bridge at Opa Khandepar Junction will also begin soon.
“Though the bridge was inaugurated, the approach road work was pending due to one house owner, whose house is located on the approach road, had moved the court objecting the work. However, as the matter is settled now, the National Highways Authority of India will soon take the initiative for commencement of the approach road,” he added.
