PONDA: The Ponda sub-registrar office located at Government administrative building at Tisk in Ponda was on Saturday shifted to a new premises with large spacious area on first floor of Raj Galeria building located near Cine Aisha.
Chief Minister Manhohar Parrikar inaugurated the office in the presence of South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Sub-Registrar Hanumanth Desai and others.
On the occasion, the chief minister appealed to the staff of the sub-registrar office to provide better service to people coming to registrar marriage, sale deeds, and other registrations.
The old office was small office causing congestion and forcing the public to stand outside for work waiting for their turn. It is learnt that Ponda taluka has population of around 1.66 lakh people and Ponda city itself has a population of around 22600 people and hence there was demand for spacious premises since past many years.
