PONDA: The swimming pool in Ponda Sports Complex, which has been closed since July last year is now ready after a seven-month struggle to detect leakages.
The sports complex authorities and contractor failed to find the cause of leakages and it took almost around six month to discover leakages below the tank.
The swimming pool developed a fault in August last year and was kept closed for repairs. In October, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik inspected the pool and gave a month’s time to find the fault and complete the repair. However, the next month authorities claimed to have detected the fault, but failed in their efforts.
Eventually, it took six month to detect and repair the pool.
The tank has a storage capacity of one lakh litres. Several youth and children who could not undertake training at the pool and have faced hardships are happy that it is finally repaired and ready for use.
