PONDA: The Ponda Traffic Police Cell stopped Akash Ravi Mane (19) at Poreskattem-Mollem for not wearing a helmet, on Thursday. Police said that Mane, a resident of Tisk, Usgao and a native of Hubballi did not have a driving licence either, and was riding a two-wheeler bearing registration number GA-03-AK-4251.

When traffic police questioned him, Mane got nervous, and this prompted the police to check on the details of the scooter on their e-challan machine. They then learnt that the scooter belonged to Amey Kumar Patil from Socorro-Porvorim and that the owner had filed a complaint about his two-wheeler theft at the Old Goa police station on August 7. The Ponda Traffic police then contacted Old Goa police, who immediately took Mane into custody for further investigations.

Meanwhile, DGP Jaspal Singh has announced a suitable reward to the Ponda Traffic Cell team for showing alertness and presence of mind.
