PONDA: VPK Bazar at Curti-Ponda that was gutted in a major fire in September last year is all set to reopen on January 20.

PONDA: VPK Bazar at Curti-Ponda that was gutted in a major fire in September last year is all set to reopen on January 20.
According to the VPK board of directors, the VPK Bazar suffered a loss of about Rs 1.5 crore in the inferno. “With help from shareholders, well-wishers and our elected representatives, we managed to generate about Rs 1.32 crore to restart the VPK Bazar at Curti in the same building,” informed VPK Bazar Chairman Pandurang Gaude.
According to information, VPK Bazar first started operations in Mardol in 2004 and in 2011 started its second branch at Curti.
“PWD and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, Cooperation Minister Deepak Dhavlikar and Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar provided immediate relief of Rs 2 lakh each. Sudin Dhavlikar also helped us by providing an interest free loan of Rs 25 lakh from the Madhavrao Dhavlikar Trust,” informed Gaude.
According to information, VPK Urban Cooperative Credit Society Ltd has provided financial assistance of Rs 29,94,000, while VPK Bazar generated Rs 20 lakh through fixed deposit from VPK Bazar shareholders and another Rs 30 lakh from fixed deposits from board of directors and staff of VPK Bazar.
The VPK Bazar generated Rs 20 lakh from advance collection for purchase by board of directors and staff of VPK Bazar.
