Ponda woman foils theft attempt

PONDA: An alert woman from Talaulim-Ponda foiled an attempt by two persons to decamp with gold ornaments belonging to her daughter-in-law. Both accused have been arrested in this connection.

According to reports, Mahesh Sab (23) and Karu Kumar (30), both from Bihar, went to the house of Sakshi Sawant at Kamrabhat-Talaulim and told her they would polish her silver and copper ornaments.
The duo told Sakshi that they would also polish her gold ornaments. Satisfied with the shine on her silver and copper ornaments, the woman offered to give her gold ornaments for polishing. She was, however, warned by her daughter-in-law against it.

The police rushed to the spot, while the villagers searched the other accused in the jungle area and caught and handed him over to the police.
The bangles were weighing 32 grammes, but when dissolved in liquid, it was about 8 grammes. The police took all the materials in their possession and are investigating the case.
