PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Pope Francis is being invited to the decennial exposition, as also national VIPs. The Exposition of St Francis Xavier will be treated as an international event. The 45 day event will be held from 24th November to 4th January.
“We are inviting the Pope. If he comes or not come will depend on him,” Pramod Sawant said, after a high powered committee meeting to oversee preparations for the XVIII Exposition of the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier, on Friday.
A website will soon go live to facilitate travel and accommodation of devotees. A high powered committee and Exposition Secretariat is heading the preparations. They will overseen all the structural work and made ready the estimates. All the related department will work together.
One officer has been put incharge of each functional area, Sawant said. “It will be treated as an international event and we look at safety and security of all pilgrims and tourists,” Sawant said.
The chief minister disclosed, “There will also be a senior citizens corridor to allow senior devotees” (to have a glimpse of the body of St Francis Xavier).
