Portion of dilapidated building slab collapses at Vasco

VASCO: A portion of a slab of a dilapidated building situated near Vasco market collapsed on Friday. However, no casualties were reported.

This is second such incident reported in the port town within a fortnight with Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Councillor Vinod Kinlekar raising safety of weak and dilapidated buildings and demanding immediate action in the interest of residents.

Narrating the incident, Adil Shaikh, a restaurant owner told media persons that the incident occurred in the afternoon when he heard a loud sound and immediately rushed out of the restaurant and saw a portion of slab had collapsed on the footpath. Although it is a busy road, nobody was injured. 

Councillor Vinod Kinlekar has demanded that the authorities should take immediate measures on dilapidated buildings keeping in mind safety of residents.
