Porvorim farmer accuses panch of harassment

PANJIM: A farmer from Porvorim has allegedly accused a panch member from Salvador Do Mundo Village Panchayat of harassment while two complaints with the local police station has not fetched any results.

Narinder Chatin has accused the panch of threatening to kill him and his staff — a power tiller operator.

With no action initiated on his complaint to the Porvorim Police Station on June 18, the farmer lodged another complaint on July 3 seeking quick action.

“The life of my family is in danger and if the Porvorim Police Station does not take action, then (name of the panch) will make sure that my family and me dies. The inaction of the police has caused the situation become worse. Therefore, if anything happens to me then (panch) and the inaction of the Porvorim Police is to be blamed,” reads a three-page complaint copy.

The complainant has alleged that the panch does not allow to use or carry out his farming activities, which has left him with no food grains or income. The panch has also been abusing him and his workers.

The police reportedly did not register either of the two complaints with an official claiming they are inquiring into the allegations.
