Porvorim market layout ready

The Goa Housing Board (GHB) has finally prepared a layout plan of the new market complex in Housing Board Colony, Porvorim.

PORVORIM: The Goa Housing Board (GHB) has finally prepared a layout plan of the new market complex in Housing Board Colony, Porvorim.

The new market complex project, which is estimated at Rs 15 crore, comprises 94 shops, 27 offices, conference hall, community hall, marriage hall and a restaurant. The GHB has submitted the plan to the Town and Country Planning Department for its approval.

Speaking to Herald, GHB Chairman Glen Ticlo stated that it has been decided to construct two separate buildings on an area of 6,007 sq mtrs and the total floor area of the building will be 5,974 sq mtrs.

“In the first building, there will be 36 shops on the ground floor, 42 shops on the mezzanine floor, 16 shops and 14 offices on the first floor and four offices and a restaurant on the second floor,” informed the Aldona MLA.

“In the second building, ground floor has been reserved for stilt parking, nine offices on the upper ground floor, conference and community hall on the first floor and marriage hall with a seating capacity of 610 people on the second floor,” added Ticlo.

He further informed that the new market complex will be constructed near Maruti Temple and the old market will be demolished once the new market is ready.

“Once the approval is received from the TCP department, the work will be tendered,” he said.
