MAPUSA: The Porvorim MLA, Rohan Khaunte has written a letter to the Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane to check the outbreak and spread of dengue in Porvorim constituency and to initiate the necessary precautionary measures.
In Porvorim constituency there have been approximately eight cases of suspected dengue which are under treatment. The places in Porvorim where people have been reported with suspected dengue are Devashree gardens Socorro, Housing Board, Krantinagar and Penha De Franca.
In his letter, Khaunte pointed out that if an epidemic breaks out then it will be very difficult to control and may lead to many fatalities.
“Necessary action needs to be taken to ensure hygiene condition is maintained in the locality and also ensure that the stagnant areas are treated. I appeal with the Health Minister to look into the matter and initiate urgent action and necessary directions to prevent further spread of dengue,” said Khaunte.
The letter stated that the people of Goa are very scared regarding the spread of the deadly disease, dengue in several parts of the State.
“Recently there has been a death of a youth from Panjim due to dengue which is really shaming. This shows the lapses on the part of the concerned authorities who have failed to take the necessary steps to ensure control of the further spread of the disease,” Khaunte added.
