PANJIM: Porvorim police have arrested one Jaspreet Singh from Delhi allegedly in connection with theft in Shri Guru Gobind Singh Sabha Gurudwara located at Betim.
A robbery complaint was lodged by the president of Gurudwara on January 18 stating that an unknown person had entered into the Darbar hall of the Gurudwara and broke open the donation box and stole cash of Rs 4.50 lakh approximately.
Based on the complaint police had formed various teams and analysed CCTV cameras for three days. Based on further analysis and technical surveillance, two unknown suspects were identified and one of them was found to be from West Delhi.
Porvorim Police team immediately proceeded to Delhi and shared the details of the suspect with Delhi Police. He was further nabbed and brought to Goa after all the legal formalities.
The second suspect has also been identified and efforts are on to trace him. The accused (Jaspreet Singh) is being interrogated for recovery of stolen money.
The entire investigation was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Vishwesh Karpe and PI Anant Gaonkar. A FIR under Section 457, 380 IPC was registered and further investigation is in progress.
