Porvorim sets the ball rolling for this year’s Carnaval with a Curtain Raiser Carnaval. King Momo gave the orders to celebrate for four days as people congregated in large numbers to have a look at the floats, the dancers and the revellers. Queen Momo called on people to preserve and celebrate their traditions and protect the environment.
A children’s carnival organised by Festakar Marius Fernandes and Dr Gwendolyn De Ornelas was held at St. John the Baptist Church in Pilerne. The aim was to encourage the children, parents, and others to promote the state’s culture and tradition and minimise commercialism.
