PANJIM: Heavy vehicles, including inter-state buses, have been banned from using the stretch from Hero Honda Circle, Porvorim up to Malim Circle between 8 am and 10 am to facilitate the work of lifting/erection of segments of the third Mandovi Bridge.
The DM North Goa ordered temporary traffic arrangements stating that “from 8 am to 10 pm all heavy, medium commercial goods vehicles will be diverted at Karaswada junction and Banastarim junction to proceed via Assnora-Bicholim to their respective destination.”
The order further states, “During the restriction timings if heavy, medium commercial goods vehicle carrying perishable or essential goods desire to proceed beyond Karaswada junction and Banastarim junction, they will be allowed only after seeking written permission from Traffic Headquarters, and will have to paste the same on the windscreen.”
Interstate buses coming from Karaswada side will not be allowed to cross Hotel Green Park junction after 8 am and will have to end their journey at Mapusa. The traffic arrangements shall be effective till the completion of work on the third Mandovi Bridge.
Speaking to Herald, DySP Traffic Dharmesh Angle said, “We have already diverted heavy vehicles while all other vehicles are allowed to take the road. This has been done to curtail the congestion of traffic in view of the ongoing construction of third Mandovi Bridge.”
