PANJIM: The Porvorim Police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons for allegedly hacking into the bank account of a Porvorim resident and carrying out as many as 31 unauthorised transactions worth Rs 1,27,138.
According to the police, one Aditi (26), residing at Wadakade SBI Colony, Porvorim, and a native of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, lodged a complaint at the police station on September 27, stating that between August 10 and 23, 2023, at Wadakade SBI Colony, Porvorim, unknown persons hacked into her SBI savings bank account and carried out 31 unauthorised bank debit transactions through PhonePe Mobile App thereby cheating and causing a loss of Rs 1,27,138.
A case has been registered under Section 420 of IPC and under Section 66 of Information Technology (IT) Act and further investigation is underway, police added.
