Positivity rate below 5% in last 3 days

164 new cases and 4 deaths were reported on Sunday

PANJIM: The daily Covid positivity rate that saw alarming peaks in the last three months where it had even crossed 50%, has now remained under 5% for the last three consecutive days. 

On Sunday, the daily Covid positivity rate dropped down to 3.56%. The rate was at 4.81% on Saturday while on Friday it was 4.95% – the first time it had gone below 5% in the last three months. Incidentally, the last three days also saw the number of daily cases remain below 200. 

On Sunday, 164 cases were reported while 4,609 samples were tested. 

149 persons were placed under home isolation, while 15 patients were hospitalised. 20 persons were discharged from various hospitals. 202 persons also recovered said the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). 

There were four new deaths reported on Sunday. Three of these deaths took place at Goa Medical College (GMC), while the remaining one took place at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Valpoi. The age of the four deceased persons were between 52 and 62.

The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is at 3073. 

The total number of active cases is now at 2087. 

The Primary Health Centre (PHC) Cortalim with 118 active cases, PHC Ponda (116) and the Urban Health Centre (UHC) Margao (114) are the only three health centres with over 100 cases.
