Poster war of political parties smears Ponda

PONDA: Despite the order directing the removal of posters and banners, the political poster war between the political parties has ‘smeared’ the Ponda taluka.

New posters of the aspiring candidates continue to dot the poles and fences in Ponda taluka including the town.

With some parties yet to disclose their candidates, they have covered the poles and fences with flags, banners/posters across Ponda.

Posters of rival candidates have been pasted at every nook and corner especially at prime spots and junctions in each constituency including Ponda town.

Interestingly, in Ponda, around five candidates are aspiring to contest on the same national party ticket and have displayed their posters across the town. The posters of the aspirants were put up during Diwali and now during Christmas season.

One political party has targeted electric poles by putting up several flags. Some parties have displayed their flags and banners on fences of Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) volleyball ground. Right from Tisk Ponda Junction to Upper Bazaar Junction the posters have been displayed by several political parties.

Each politician has also displayed his posters and banners of several sizes in Marcaim, Priol and Shiroda. Right from electricity poles, to roadside trees and roadside walls are decked with such posters.

Before election the big poster war of politicians is drawing the attention and curiosity of the voters.
