BICHOLIM: A 28-year-old police constable attached to Bicholim Police Station died after his motorcycle landed in a pothole and skidded off the road at Navelim-Sanquelim on Thursday.
According to the available information, at around 11 am, Ritesh Ramdas Mayekar from Ibrampur, Pernem, was travelling from Navelim-Sanquelim to Bicholim, when his motorcycle landed in a pothole at Navelim due to which he lost control and skidded off the road. The impact was such that Ritesh suffered serious head injury.
It is learnt that he was wearing a helmet but had the strap untied due to which the helmet may have fallen off resulting in Ritesh sustaining a head injury. He was rushed to Sanquelim PHC but was declared dead by the doctors.
He was recently transferred from Calangute Police Station.
