PANJIM, JUNE 3
Deputy Director of Education Anil Powar on Thursday assured all students, including those who have passed the Secondary School Certificate exam after being awarded ATKT (allowed to keep term) in one and two subjects would get admissions to Higher Secondary schools.
This year 586 students were awarded ATKT in two subjects for the first time provided they scored an aggregate 40% in the remaining passed subjects. Another 427 were awarded ATKT in one subject thus taking the total of such students to 1,013.
Powar said as and when requests come from higher secondary schools for additional divisions or for increasing student capacity in each stream the Education Department will take note and do the needful. There are total 76 higher secondary schools in Goa, he stated.
The Deputy Director said requests have started pouring in and after June 7 the day when HS schools begin things will be very clear. “So far requests for additional divisions have come from PES Higher Secondary, Ponda, Canacona Government HS and permission for additional students in each stream has come from Tukoba HS, Curchorem and Deep Vihar HS, Vasco,” he informed.
Powar said some of the HSS have not finalised their list. “We are expecting more such requests to come but in the end I can only assure all the students will be accommodated in the higher secondary schools,” he mentioned.
