MARGAO: A major tragedy was averted on Thursday afternoon when a low tension power cable snapped near the Fatorda Stadium junction.
One half of the cable snapped in the middle of the road while the other fell on the shed, which is usually occupied by pick-up divers.
The cable snapped due to strong winds.
Luckily no one was injured as the pick-up drivers had gone for their lunch break.
The PWD labourers working nearby witnessed sparks as the cable snapped.
In another incident opposite the stadium’s north gate, a tree got uprooted following strong winds.
Luckily no one was injured.
