BICHOLIM: Bicholim block congress and other congress workers today gherored the electricity department officials and questioned them about the rise in the electricity bills to the common people.
Today the congress workers led by the GPCC vice president, Sankalp Amonkar along with the Bicholim block president, Meghasham Raut went to the Bicholim electricity department and questioned the electricity Executive Engineers about the high bills in the state and also in the taluka.
They questioned the officials as to why the common people were charged extra bills during the lockdown period. “Department is at fault when they gave such high bills to the people. There is no hike in the government’s rate per unit but still people have been charged high bill as they have calculated the units of three months.” Amonkar told.
He told that the Engineers have agreed that there is a mistake on the part of the department. “There are all three MLA’s of BJP where one is the CM himself who is from Bicholim taluka. We want to tell them that people have already suffered because of lockdown and if government is charging such high bills then they are doing wrong.” He told.
“Many have suffered, they have lost their jobs and when the government should have given relaxation on the bills they are giving double the bills” Congress youth president, Varad Mardolkar told.
He told that if a person gets high bill the electricity department asks them to first pay the bill and then inquiry is done. “Who has the time to follow up if there is high bills only because of the fault of the department?” Mardolkar asked terming it a scam.
“Government is making loot of the people and common people are being targeted” he claimed demanding with the authorities to look into the matter.
