Power dept re-introduces OTS scheme for 2 months

Will be open for a period from December 28, 2022 to February 27, 2023 for all consumers

PANJIM: With the hope of recovering the outstanding power dues to the tune of Rs 423 crore, the State Electricity Department on Wednesday re-introduced the one-time settlement scheme (OTSS) 2022 for a period of two months to all categories of consumers. 

The scheme will be open for a period of two months from Dec 28, 2022 to Feb 27, 2023 for domestic as well as commercial consumers whose installations are active, temporarily disconnected or permanently disconnected. The entire principal amount due has to be paid by the consumer, but the scheme offers waiver on Delay Payment Charges and interest on amount due. 

Power Minister Ramakrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar while launching the scheme, said that the department intends to recover atleast Rs 190 crore arears from 1.78 lakh defaulters within the two months. 

The scheme offers two options for consumers -100 per cent waiver of delayed payment charges for one-time payment of the principle amount or payment in monthly installments with waiver of interest on bills due. The OTSS 2022 scheme is open to consumers under revenue recovery case (RRC) and also for new occupiers of old premises.

The current billing will be continued, and the consumers will have to pay the current bills along with instalments within the due date of the bills. Consumers who desire to avail of the OTS scheme 2022 will have to apply online through www.goaelectricity.gov.in
