PONDA: After power supply disruption till late on Thursday night in some parts of Ponda Taluka, forcing people and shop owners to celebrate Laxmi Poojan in darkness, angry Pondaites, led by Congress leader Rajesh Verenkar grilled the Electricity Department Engineer Bharatan at the Curti Power Sub-Station over restoration of power supply.
Speaking to the media persons, Bharatan said heavy rain, and lightning caused the feeders to trip and electricity was affected.
“The locals tried to contact the Electricity Department office and its officials to know about the black-out but their phones were switched off,” said Verenkar adding that the scarcity of staff also hampered the restoration of power supply.
“The Electricity Department linesmen and staff tried to restore the power to those who lost electricity. Natural calamities, including heavy rain, lightning affected the power feeders at several places,” said Bharatan and promised to take care next time, especially during the festivals so that people do not suffer hardships.
