PANJIM: Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar’s statement on the Goa Tamnar Transmission Project comes as no surprise from a self-centered politician like him, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Vice President Adv Surel Tilve, on Friday.
Reacting to Dhavalikar’s statement that it is important for the Tamnar project to be completed, failing which, the State government will be forced to increase power tariff as has been done in Maharashtra and Karnataka, Adv Tilve argued that Dhavalikar, who once opposed the same project because of environmental concerns, has now admitted to his ignorance of the technicalities and the benefits of the project.
Thousands of trees have already been felled at Dharbandora due to this project. The Supreme Court only saved Goa from destruction due to the concern of citizens and political pressure. Will Dhavalikar stand by these trees, which are already being destroyed for this project in violation of the law, questioned Tilve.
Having made so many u-turns, Tilve said, “Dhavalikar had lost the people’s trust.”
He said, “Dhavalikar’s statements about not supporting Pramod Sawant as Chief Minister or about not having an alliance with the BJP during the recent elections were lies and he always took the decision keeping his own self-interest in mind. The leaders like Dhavalikar work for their own interests, not for the common people. Because of this, Goans have realised that he is not trustworthy and nobody takes him seriously.”
Tilve added, “Unlike other political leaders, the AAP does not make false promises. The Tamnar project, which will adversely affect the State, has long been opposed by our leaders and both MLAs will raise this issue in upcoming monsoon session of Goa Assembly as well.”
