Power shutdown in South Goa cancelled

PANJIM: The State government has cancelled the annual power shutdown, which was planned in large parts of the South Goa district, on April 30, 2023, from 7 am to 3 pm.

However, on Tuesday, the department issued a press release where it stated that the annual shutdown has been cancelled due to “unavoidable circumstances”.

Another unrelated positive fallout of this, for the official machinery, could be that a prominent government programme for which the administration would like maximum home-bound audiences tuning in across various radio and web-based and TV platforms’, will get maximum public participation.

Interestingly, the Power Department preferred not to disclose why the annual shutdown was being cancelled choosing only to mention “unavoidable circumstances”.
