PONDA: The Electricity Department personnel on Monday finally managed to restore power supply in most areas of Ponda taluka.
It is pertinent to note that the power department personnel have been kept busy since Sunday attending to several calls with regards to snapping of electricity lines and damaged poles in Ponda due to Cyclone Tauktae.
However, due to manpower shortage villages in the taluka continue to remain in darkness.
Electricity supply was not yet restored in Durbhat, Adpoi, Agapur, Wadi, Talaulim and Kavlem as many poles stand broken.
The Gaunem locals complained that they have no power supply for the last four days. The poles in the paddy field often collapse due to loose soil.
Adpoi panch Mashal Adpoikar said presently part of village is in darkness. Not only today they have power crisis throughout year.
Meanwhile, EE Vallab Samant at Curti said since Sunday the Electricity Department employees are working hard to restore the power supply. Nearly 85 per cent of Ponda taluka, power supply has been restored. The rest 15 percent work would be completed by May 18 and all villages will receive power supply.
He said around 50 poles got uprooted and most of them have been replaced. A few are to be replaced.
Meanwhile the Ponda Fire personnel attended to most calls. Only a few are pending.
