Power, water supply complaints dominate Carmona “Public Grievances Fortnight”

CARMONA: Carmona village Panchayat received over 150 power related complaints mostly related to the non-functional LED streetlights and 15-odd cases regarding water supply issues during the recently concluded “Public Grievances Fortnight”.

“A list of the non-functional streetlights has already been forwarded to the Benaulim Sub-Division Assistant Engineer with the electricity department already commencing work of repairing and replacing the defective lights in two wards. The remaining will also be taken up soon. Grievances related to water will be forwarded to the PWD soon. The PWD has also been asked to re-commission the overhead water storage tank to bolster pressure in the neighbouring areas of the tank as per the demands of the villagers made during the Gram Sabha. The Carmona village Panchayat office will now be maintaining a Public Grievance file 24×7,” informed the Carmona sarpanch Allwyn Jorge.

Jorge added, “Estimate of Rs 5.60 crore has been prepared for the replacement of the power infrastructure in the village.”

“There’s an overhead water storage tank at Gavona ward built by the PWD to boost the water pressure for the villagers. But the PWD is not utilising this tank. I have already written to the concerned department and met the executive engineers. Today, I met and briefed the MLA Alemao who has promised that he will take action on this matter,” said Jorge.
