Prabhu promises semi high-speed trains in Goa

MARGAO: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has said that semi high-speed trains between Mumbai and Goa would be introduced, once the tracks of Konkan Railway passing through Goa are improved.

MARGAO: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has said that semi high-speed trains between Mumbai and Goa would be introduced, once the tracks of Konkan Railway passing through Goa are improved.
“Semi-high speed trains will help people save time. Trial run of Telgo, a semi-high speed train, which will be run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, has been successful,” Prabhu said.
Referring to the works being done on double tracking the route passing through Goa, he said that efforts are being made to improve the conditions of the tracks in Goa.
In the past, Prabhu has had highlighted the need for double tracing in Goa.
Other than the Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Delhi routes, semi-high speed trains will soon be introduced on the Delhi-Chandigarh, Chennai-Bangalore and Vijayawada- Bangalore routes, he informed.
Prabhu was talking via video conferencing after laying the foundation stone for the newly proposed Kadwai station that is located between Sangmeshwar and Aravali Road Stations and Innanje Station that is located between Padubidri & Udupi Stations
The video conferencing was held at BITS Pilani Goa campus, at Vasco.
The proposed Kadwai station will be constructed at a cost of Rs 9.75 crore, and the Innanje station will be constructed at a cost of Rs 11.34 crore and expected to be completed the next 24 months.
