Outgoing Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will get a second term as chief minister. The BJP Legislature party on Monday evening decided on his candidature for the post. BJP’s top leaders accompanied by Pramod Sawant will meet Goa Governor PS Shreedharan Pillai and stake claim to form the govt.
The BJP Govt formation is likely to take place in two stages. In the first instance along with CM, five Ministers including two Independents are expected to be sworn in during this week.
The BJP had its legislature party meeting at its headquarters in Panjim with all the 20 BJP MLAs attending the meeting.
Central observers Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and L Murugan, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Goa Desk incharge CT Ravi, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade and others were present to oversee the selection of the legislature party leader and decide on govt formation.
Earlier, Tomar on his arrival at Dabolim airport, had dismissed press queries whether the delay in govt formation was due to infighting within the party.
