PANJIM: After a high drama over a minor accident between Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar and a local scooterist followed by an ‘amicable settlement’, the actor issued a statement alleging that unscrupulous elements were tarnishing his image.
Babbar’s advocate Vibhav Amonkar said his client cooperated with the investigation and that all allegations are untrue.
“It was a simple mishap. There were no injuries caused to anyone or anything whatsoever. All the reports alleging rash and negligent driving as well as assault are absolutely untrue and solely aimed at maligning my client’s reputation. All the medical tests conducted on my client were negative thereby demolishing all the unfounded allegations. Some unscrupulous persons were merely trying to gain mileage and publicity from my client’s celebrity status. The police after completing all necessary formalities have compounded the case and closed the matter. The vehicle involved in the said accident has been released along with all the original documents. It would be necessary to note that Prateik has all throughout been extremely cooperative which has also been acknowledged by the police officials,” the statement says.
St Cruz resident Paulo Correa, had filed a complaint against Babbar that his scooter was hit by a car driven by the actor on Wednesday evening. He had accused Babbar of threatening and verbally abusing him and his cousin sister who were travelling on the two-wheeler. Correa had also accused Babbar of assault. Babbar had subsequently filed a counter complaint against Correa alleging that the latter had damaged the car. The matter was settled amicably as claimed in their respective affidavits to the police. The Porvorim police, however, fined Babbar for rash & negligent driving.
