PANJIM: The members of Progressive River Authority for Water and Harmony (PRAWAH) committee arrived in the state on Wednesday to carry out inspection of the Mhadei basin which is to be carried from Thursday, July 4.
According to sources, PRAWAH committee member N K Manglik and Secretary Ashok Kumar, Secretary (Water Resources) Subhash Chandra, WRD Chief Engineer Pramod Badami, Superintending Engineer Dilip Naik and Mhadei Cell Executive Engineer Lilesh Khandeparkar will visit the dams in Goa.

They are scheduled to visit Amthane dam, Valvanti river, Anjunem dam, Uste river in Valpoi on Thursday and will visit Ganjem dam, Opa, Cumbharjua canal and Sarmanas on Friday, as part of familiarisation.
Recently, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar had said that the PRAWAH committee will study the flow of the Mhadei river water through the three riparian States namely Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Shirodkar had said that it was important to hold the inspection in the monsoon to ascertain the diversion of the river by Karnataka. He had claimed that the State has done its preparation thoroughly before the scheduled visit.
In April this year, the PRAWAH Authority had asked the three riparian States to share with it, visit plans for familiarisation with the Mhadei river basin.
The committee has been appointed by the Centre to oversee the compliance of the Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal award and Supreme Court orders.
