BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) has completed nearly ninety percent of its pre-monsoon work in all ten wards. The remaining work will be completed within the next few days.
According to information provided by BMC Deputy chairman Riaz Baig, the Council had started work on the gutters and nullahs on time, and hence, it was able to cover most of the wards before the onset of monsoon.
“The areas near the ground and town centre, are to be covered. These will be taken up in the next few days. Then all the pre-monsoon works will be over,” said Baig.
Municipality supervisor Prasad Fogeri informed that the BMC had employed 30 more workers, and hence, work was done quickly. When asked about some of the flood-prone areas, he said the chances of waterlogging were low this year. He stated, “Even though desilting work was not carried out this year in the nullah near Shantadurga High School, a retaining wall was built, which will not allow water-logging.”
