PANJIM: In a major relief, several pre-primary helpers working in government primary schools have been granted all the benefits of anganwadi helpers, including fixing the retirement age to 60.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued an order in this regard with the concurrence of Finance Department.
Education Director Bhushan Savaikar said the pre-primary helpers will get pay parity on par with scale or pay of the anganwadi workers, fixed by the Directorate of Women and Child Development.
The retirement age is also extended to 60 years. The helpers will be entitled to 16 days casual leave and 180 days maternity leave and other local and government holidays.
