President, PM greet Goans on Statehood Day

PANJIM: The President, Vice President and the Prime Minister of India greeted the people of Goa on the occasion of 33rd Statehood Day, which was celebrated, on Saturday. 

President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu greeted people in Konkani, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi used English. 

“Goa is famous for its rich nature and rich culture. The people of Goa are known for their great serenity, harmony and sense of brotherhood. In the years to come, this beautiful State will reach a new level of progress,” President tweeted. 

Vice President tweeted, “Goa, popular for its beautiful nature and hospitality, has a special place in the heart of every Indian. On this day, I wish the State of Goa reach new heights of prosperity”. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted stating, “Greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of their Statehood Day. Goa is a land of scenic beauty and warm hearted people. The State is enriching India’s development trajectory in many sectors. I pray for Goa’s continued progress in the years to come.” 

Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also wished people on the special day. “On this historic day in 1987, under the leadership of then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Goa became a State of the Republic of India.”
