PONDA: Locals of Apewal Veling-Priol-Cucoliem Panchayat along with Goychya Kul Mundkaracho Awaj and social workers protested against the illegal construction of development of plots for mega project at Apewal.
According to locals it is orchard and agricultural land and cannot be converted into residential purpose. Besides, no NOC has been taken for the construction.
According to Social worker Kerkar at least 30 plots were planned to be developed for migrants, which the locals opposed.
She said the activist of Rainbow Warriors and villagers had earlier stopped illegal hill cutting at Mangueshi and Curti.
Villagers demanded that police should act and file FIR, as declared by TCP Minister against illegal conversion of agricultural land.
Palkar said villagers had filed a complaint with the panchayat last year and panchayat had issued a stop-work order to the developer, but after stopping for some time, the work has gained momentum and is being undertaken during the night.
