MARGAO: Entry of former Congressman Moreno Rebello into the BJP has led to the new calculations amongst the voters in Curtorim constituency. However, the mood of the people is that the joining of Moreno may not create any impact in the elections. But there an unease with the sudden BJP “presence” on the narrow winifn roads of the constituerncy.
On the other hand several leaders from the ST community are apparently upset over the induction.
It has been further revealed that several sarpanchs and panch members, local leaders, who were planning to support the BJP candidate, are very much disappointed with the entry of Moreno into the BJP, as they were hoping BJP would give boost to ST community.
According to the views of locals, three-time MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco will have a tough time to win the race but at the same time, at the moment he still has the edge on others.
Presently, AAP aspirant and ST leader Dominc Gaunkar, BJP’s aspirant and newly inducted Moreno Rebello, who’s wife still holds the charge of Congress Zilla Panchayat member, and aspirant from TMC , besides Revolutionary Goans candidate Rubert Pereira are working hard to convince the voters.
Sources revealed, BJP ST leader Anthony Barbosa, who was working hard to convince the people of Curtorim to support BJP, is also upset with the party’s decision, so are his supporters.
It is pertinent that Sardinha was very much close with Moreno when he was in Congress. However, the sudden move of Moreno joining BJP has even surprised Sardinha.”
