Probe demanded against Bolkarne milk producers’ society chief

VALPOI: Two dairy farmers of Navasnjeevani Milk Producers Society of Bolkarne in Dharbandora have demanded a probe against the “disorderly conduct” of Chairman Madhavrao Desai and his team.

They have also demanded that an administrator be appointed to manage the affiants of the society.
Addressing a press conference at Valpoi, they expressed displeasure at the State Cooperative department for its failure to take any action against Desai.
 despite repeated complaints of irregularities committed by him in managing the society.
They further alleged that Dessai has been the chairman of Navasnjeevani Milk Producers Society for the last 24 years and all these years he has been manipulating the affairs of the society. And since the year 2004, he has not held annual general meeting of the society and this was brought to the notice of the officials concerned, however, no action was taken against him, they added.
They also accused him of running the society as his family business with his wife Shubhalaxmi Desai as vice chairman and brother Pramod Desai as treasurer.
“This society was established by poor milk producers to procure milk and supply the same to nearby societies which is then supplies to the Goa dairy. But, due to the capricious act of the chairman, many milk producers have refused to supply milk in this society,” they alleged.
