MARGAO: Cyde D’Souza, son of Rolla D’Souza, a lady from Cuncolim whose dead body was found months after she had gone missing, has demanded a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of his mother and not close it as an ‘accident case’.
Cyde D’Souza, along with advocate Radharao Graicas, pointed out that there is ample evidence to show that it could not have been an accident. Clyde has also written to the South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) and the Cuncolim Police Inspector (PI) in this regard and asked that without conclusive evidence including the forensic reports, the case can’t be brushed aside as an ‘accident’.
It may be recalled that the deceased had gone missing on September 9, 2022, and her body was finally found in Cuncolim on December 29, 2022, but in a decomposed state.
“The moment the body was found, the same day police claimed it was an accident. That is very unusual. A case has to be registered as unnatural death and upon police investigation, the conclusion has to be reached,’ said Adv Gracias.
“The moment they pre-emptively say it is an accident, chances are there that they will get evidence to say it is an accident. However, there is evidence to suspect some foul play. The clothes of the lady were found away from the body, which was found inside a culvert. If a person falls from a culvert to the surface below, how does the body go inside the pipe?” Adv Gracias questioned.
“We demand for a thorough investigation. Even the police collection of the body was incomplete. The next day they collected some bones and clothes. The head too had separated from the body. All this could not have happened by accident. There appears to be mischief somewhere and this happened in a public place,” Adv Gracias added.
“Justice must be seen to be done. The public must know that the police are investigating the case,” Adv Gracias added.
