PANJIM: Mystery shrouds the death of the IRB constable Kishor Shirodkar on the second day, even as Porvorim police have begun recording statements of witnesses in the case, which was registered as unnatural death.
However, the grief-stricken family’s statement could not be recorded on Friday.
The investigation has commenced and statements of various all persons concerned are being recorded, a police officer confirmed.
The young police personnel’s body was found in suspicious circumstances in the compound of National Institute of Open Schooling at Porvorim in the early hours of Thursday. Abrasions on his face, plastic like rope tied around his neck and blue polythene almost stuffed in his mouth had left all in a quandary about his death.
The autopsy report cleared the doubts as it ascertained the death occurred due to hanging. The forensic report confirmed “asphyxia death due to contusion by a ligature material” indicating death by hanging and further examination on the body revealed that the marks on his face were ‘fresh ant bites.’
Meanwhile, the beer bottles found next to his body was supposedly not linked to the case. The police are investigating and are trying to find out the reason for the constable’s torn shirt.
We are investigating as to how his shirt on the shoulders could tear in the alleged suicide attempt, the officer said.
Police were investigating all angles and are awaiting a complaint from the family, if they suspect foul-play.
