PANJIM: Alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is awarding tender of electric poles for cable networks to the kin of their leaders, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee media chairman Amarnath Panjikar on Thursday demanded thorough inquiry into alleged loss of Rs 4 crore in a tender that has been awarded for the usage of electric poles for advertising and other usage.
Addressing the media persons, Panjikar claimed that the tender has been awarded with an intention to help relatives of BJP’s “Mahamantri”. According to Panjikar, the rent amount was taken in advance by the Electricity Department from all the parties who are using the electricity poles for the purpose of advertising.
“But now on the instruction of the BJP government the department has secretly awarded the tender to one firm at a minimum price of Rs 2 crore to collect the rent,” he alleged.
