MARGAO: The process to put a new Outline Development Plan (ODP) for the city of Margao will soon get underway.
The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) on Tuesday resolved to start the process on the new ODP taking into account that the present Plan is due to revised within a year and half.
At its meeting held on Tuesday, members gave the go ahead signal to the Member Secretary Vinod Kumar to ensure that the entire process is completed within the stipulated time frame.  Kumar told Herald that the PDA will move the government for the administrative nod to start the process of formulating the new ODP. “Once the Authority receives the government, the process will start by updating the base maps and make sure that decisions taken by the PDA are reflected on the maps,” he said.
The SGPDA had hit by a row of sorts after citizens took to the streets to protest against the violations overlooked by the PDA while finalising the ODP.
Meanwhile, the SGPDA meeting also took into account the situation in the messy wholesale fish market in view of the order passed by the sub-divisional magistrate, Margao giving the PDA 10 weeks to put the market in order. After the discussions, the PDA gave its go-ahead signal to the Member secretary on the construction of a retaining wall at the wholesale fish market.
The PDA has decided to approach the PWD for the preparation of estimates before work on the retaining wall is tendered.
