This Jogging Track is used by thousands of people on daily basis for morning to evening and has become a source of inspiration for the people of Margao to stay fit. This track has been very helpful for professional athletes and students for practices of various athletic sports.
Some of the National Level football referees have also been practising on this same track for quite some time. The rubber layer on the track laid some years back has been peeling off in different parts of the track. The synthetic layer has recently come off completely and all that remains is the residue of the dilapidated track and the large torn-up patches. This causes inconvenience to the joggers and walkers.
During the Indian Soccer League matches the spectators were allowed to park the vehicle on the central areas of the ground. Hence to allow people in a large area of the track was converted into a perpendicular ramp which dilapidated the track furthermore.
Now the complaints have reached the sports minister and in response he had deputed the authorities for inspection. The minister has promised that rubberised track will be replaced within two months time.
