PANJIM: Having recently faced intimidation and threat from Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Goa Unit and Rashtriya Yuva Hindu Vahini, Goa Unit regarding her teaching and Facebook post, Miramar-based VM Salgaocar College assistant professor Shilpa Singh, now has received rape and death threats on a national Hindi news channel where the report of her FIR was telecast.
The Shilpa Singh Support Group has written to Goa State Women’s Commission that Shilpa is staying alone with her mother and her sister with special needs. Singh is facing severe emotional, mental torture and security threat due to these posts as some of these persons may be residing in Goa.
“We are not able to confirm the presence of these people as these messages now appear to have been removed from the website, but were sent to us by a Facebook user who saw them initially,” the letter states.
“Even as we still wait for a word from the Governor’s office regarding giving direction to the State government to provide her round-the-clock security, we urge you to immediately file a complaint against the identified individuals and provide security to Ms Shilpa Singh”, the letter further states.
