Prog for women on coconut tree climbing held at Gulem

CANACONA: The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) South in association with Zonal Agriculture Office, Canacona and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) conducted a six-day training programme for women on coconut tree climbing at Gulem, Canacona.

CANACONA: The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) South in association with Zonal Agriculture Office, Canacona and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) conducted a six-day training programme for women on coconut tree climbing at Gulem, Canacona. 
Funded by DRDA and organised by ATMA South, the programme was monitored by ZAO Canacona. Around 17 women from all over the taluka participated and were guided by experts on coconut tree climbing. 
Sources in ZAO Canacona said of the 17 participants Suvidha Velip, Yogita Sudhir, Vinanti Velip, Amisha Velip, Vibha Mahale and Bindiya Velip acquired the skills of coconut climbing and expressed their willingness to be commercial pluckers. The concerned departments hired the services Ursella kullu and Rufina Indwar from Jharkhand to train women. 
The concluding function was held at Gulem which was attended by Shaba Verenkar, Nevil Alfonso, Chandrahas Desai, Sucorina Fernandes, Vibha Mahale, Ganesh Velip, Sarvanand Sarvankar, Sourabh Kamat and Devendra Gaonkar.  Certificates were awarded to the participants and prizes were awarded to the best pluckers namely Suvidha Velip, Vinanti Velip and Yogita Sudhir.
