PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that once the proposed Betim-Panjim Bridge is constructed, most of the traffic problems faced by the residents of Porvorim will be reduced substantially.
Parrikar was speaking after inaugurating the Socorro Panchayat Ghar.
Speaking further, Parrikar said: “In order to facilitate big companies to participate in the tender process, the State government has extended the time line. Once government receives more quotations, the tendering process will begin. The government desires to make the proposed Betim-Panjim Bridge operational by December 2015.”
Parrikar said the 10 shops in the new Socorro Panchayat Ghar and the air-conditioned hall will generate substantial revenue for the Socorro Panchayat. “This project has seen the light of the day because of persistent efforts by Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte,” he added.
“The water problem being faced by the residents of Porvorim has been eased to considerable extent and also the electricity problem,” said Parrikar.
Khaunte said when the water treatment plant, which has been proposed at Saligao, comes into being Porvorim will receive adequate water. “The chief minister has assured to start the work of sewerage treatment in Porvorim this year,” said Khaunte.
“The work of the Socorro ground has already been started, while the project of Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Ghar will commence soon,” he said.
He further said he propose to introduce the system of issuing certificates like OBC, etc, online at Socorro Panchayat.
