Proposed six-lane railway over bridge at Rawanfond awaits approval for tender

Concerned departments officials, Margao MLA take stock of ongoing work pertaining to beautification of the ring road

MARGAO: The procedure of proposed six lane railway over bridge at Rawanfond is at the final stage, and work will start once the tender is approved by the concerned authority, said Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, as he held a review meeting at Margao on Friday. 

All the officials of the concerned departments attended the meeting, wherein the MLA also took stock of the ongoing work pertaining to beautification of the ring road. 

Speaking to the media persons after the meeting Kamat said all the procedure with regard to issuing the tender of the proposed six lanes over-bridge has been done and it is at the final stage. 

“All the tender work has been done, but could not be placed before the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA)  due to the election code of conduct. However, now the government will constitute the new board, wherein the said file of the proposed project will get the approval for the tender. Thereafter the work orders will be issued,” said Kamat. 

He said there may be closure of the road in the night time once the work of the bridge is started, as it will also help to keep eye on the dumping of waste on the road side over here, besides will also look into the issue of shifting the gaddas operating nearby. 

He also informed that he has discussed the ongoing works of beautification of the ring road. 

“All the issues pertaining to the beautification of the ring road will be resolved. The Power Department has also agreed to give the connections to the electricity poles erected over here,” said Kamat. 

The MLA said the second project taken up by the Goa State Urban Development Agency  is beautification of the road from Rawanfond junction to Kharebhand Bridge.
